The Council for the Town of Caledon has proclaimed the week of Sunday, September 9th to Saturday, September 15th as "Eat Local Week" in Caledon.

During Caledon’s First Annual Eat Local Week join other residents throughout Caledon by eating local as much as possible for one whole week.

Register your participation with us and receive a scorecard to track your progress. Submit the scorecard at the end of the week for the chance to win great local prizes.

Many Caledon restaurants and food retailers are also participating by offering menu choices that include locally grown/produced food.

There will be several events taking place throughout the week. Join in the great fun and help support a thriving local food economy!

Eating Local

Eating Local means to eat food that is produced in one’s local area or foodshed. It can be grown by local farmers or processed by local food processors (e.g. bakeries, dairies, butchers, breweries, wineries). There are numerous opportunities to purchase and eat local food in the Caledon area. See our Caledon Area Producers listing for ideas.

Throughout the 7 days, Caledon residents are encouraged to prioritize their food choices in the following manner:

  • 1st Choice: Food that is produced within the Caledon area.

  • 2nd Choice: Food that is produced within Ontario.

Registration

After you register, you will receive the Eat Local Week Package, which includes the Eat Local Scorecard to help you keep track of how many of your household’s meals include local food throughout the week. Submit the scorecard via email at the end of the week for a chance to win great local prizes. Register now.
