Caledon Countryside Alliance
Countryside Is An Option.

Principles and Objectives

The Caledon Countryside Alliance (CCA) is a Not for Profit agency. Its objective is to ensure that Caledon and the Headwaters region maintain their rural character. We think of our countryside as a permanent feature rather than land waiting to be developed. The CCA encourages people to think about and observe their rural surroundings. We want you to decide why you chose to live in or visit Caledon or the headwaters region. We provide opportunities where people can come together to talk about these topics, and we undertake research into the issues that effect our countryside.

Over the next 10 to 20 years, Caledon's population is expected to at least double. This means there will be twice as many cars and twice as many houses. There will be fewer farms and less green space. Can Caledon support so many people? Is there sufficient clean water in our aquifers to supply our needs? Will our air become a soupy mess? Will Caledon become Bramalea north?

Over the next 20 years we can expect an increase in the amount of land that is mined for aggregates. Even more of the Niagara Escarpment and the Oak Ridges Moraine will be ripped up for gravel and stone. The CCA is involved in activities that help place value on our current environment and our lifestyle.

We believe that we should live within the environmental carrying capacity of our local environment. Our population growth and aggregate activities should be influenced by local environmental concerns. If you want Caledon to flourish rather than flounder, please support the Caledon Countryside Alliance. For information on becoming a member, please send us an email.
